one year (ish) on

Monday, 22 February 2010

My kitchen at the weekend (top) and this time last year (above). I know it was about his time of year because you can see my Valentines rose, a bit of a tradition in the same spot on the windowsill, although last years one seemed to last longer than this time round. There are a few more plants and a painted wall but basically they are the same! That spotty wine glass has moved in the last year I am sure it has!

Just to finish it off, my kitchen after work the other day (below). I love how the light changes in each photo to make it look completely different even though its the same scene taken on the same camera.

I may of over looked this one.....

.....what do you think?!

which one???

Thursday, 18 February 2010

This is Matt. I took his portrait a while ago for a project I am doing called What is England, I think I have mentioned it before. Well anyway - I don't know which one to choose! The last one is really grainy as I used 1600asa film but I think it must of been a particuarly grainy one as I have used it before and it wasn't this grainy? Maybe it was pushed/pulled in the processing, I don't know. Either way this is the result. Help me decide please?

Oh and I need to know by next Wednesday OK?!

Cloud Wall

I saw a photo a long time ago of a corner of someone's house and one of the walls was plastered with photo of clouds. I can't remember where I saw the photo unfortunately but whoever had the idea was genius and I have been slowly taking photos of cloudy skys ever since to make my own. These are from all over the place - some from Macedonia, France, good old Royston (and around), Norfolk I think there is even one or 2 that my dad gave me from Cornwall and possibly Iceland! It'll be an international wall. I think I have enough now, I'm putting them up in my kitchen in a long strip along the wall a wall. They are at the printers right now. I can't wait to pick them up, just need to paint the wall they are going on!

Weekend Photos

Tuesday, 16 February 2010

As well as being Valentines day, it was also Chinese New Year this weekend, so we went Wong Kei for a yum chinese, although none of us actually knew it was chinese new year for definite (we had an idea it was near!) until be turned the corner into China town and the hundreds of gorgeous lanterns confirmed it! Borough Market was the next day to get tasty treats for dinner - was a good weekend!

We have a box of this at home, but my boyfriend is also at home as I type this so I wonder how much will be left when I get in!

before and after!

Mango Chutney

Monday, 15 February 2010

We had some of this home made mango chutney last night, it was so good - thank you Siobian! The photo of the giant pavalova was from the same roll of film so I thought I'd share that too, and just so you know it was home made too, and gorgeous! Thanks to Imogen for that, I have very clever friends!

I have been nominated for a blogging award called a Lovelie (great name!) from the Lovely Clusters Blog. If you feel I deserve this award, I would really really love it if you headed over there and left a comment and your vote!

Inspiration

Monday, 8 February 2010

I was inspired by this blog post on The Mocking Bird blog, which I often read. She basically said just go and shoot a photograph, it doesn't matter what of or if the light isn't perfect, just take a photo! This is something that I thought was a good idea, especially as i sometimes I think about it too much and don't push the shutter! Well I thought that I would take a photo of my lunch today so here it is: This is my photo of an orange just because I can! Weirdly, this was supposed to be a blood orange, but it is completely orange, I think it must of got mixed up in the packet.

Also I was really pleased to find a particularly excellent comment this morning after mentioning that my fringes project was on a blog called Postmonkey and I couldn't read the language. Pan, the writer of the blog left me the translation which goes like this:

"Caroline Hancox who is photographing the unpredictible nature by polaroid emulsion lifting method has noteworthy works. The use this old fashion method for illustrating the nature who is turned back by human beings and ignored by various life habitat complexes built just upon it, is an interesting and also the basic characteristic that makes her unique."

How nice is that? Made my day, thankyou Pan!

Sun

Friday, 5 February 2010

I'm fed up with all this grey and darkness we are getting at the moment so I found some photos from last year so I can pretend that the half an hour of sun we got earlier is still out (I think I might be getting obsessed with the sun?!)

he he he!

Wednesday, 3 February 2010

I had to take a sneaky pic (well i got my boyfriend to take one!) of me at the exhibition and awards evening of the Professional Photography Magazine, Photographer of the Year Award competition (I may of mentioned that before??!) My photo was up on the wall and looked great, I was so pleased. The one behind me of the car was the winner of the Commercial section, and it was for a real life Audi advert, so i was in good company.

These photos (below) are from a sunny muddy walk the other day that made me think that spring might be coming. This thought was wiped out walking home from work last night in the rain though.
And finally, I found some more places where I have been featured this week:

Fringes project on PostMonkey. I wish I could read the language on this one...
...and my mulled cider photo in a lovely collection of January tones and colours on The Bakers Daughter blog, which is a lovely blog and you should read it.
